All he has to worry about in Rome in the coming years are massive city fires and the occasional outbreak of plague. And the occasional outbreak of fiery political upheaval. At least he has a relatively decent WC.
I think I could live with Roman communal toilets, all open and in a row with people chit-chatting. But I’m not so sure about the sponge-on-a-stick in a pot of vinegar.
Iusta is looking really good in these panels. I also like Damon’s face as being unique and not as classically handsome as Felix’s. I’m sure the boy will grow up to have a complex that his father is prettier than he is.
Well, remember that Felix isn’t Damon’s genetic father but the man who claimed him and his camp-follower mother to give them what protection he could. Kinda like Jason rescuing the kitten, so they’ve got that in common. ๐
If he wants to provide steady meals and a roof over Persephone-cat’s head, he might want to consider staying put.
But his pater might make him take school lessons, keep his hair cut, bathe regularly, and cut down on the cussing, so it might not be as comfy-easy a life as he’d like….
I love your work on the expression Iusta’s face as she peers into the upstairs room; that sort of peevish look when you’re trying to get take a good look at something (and you’re probably tired and a little lost…).
Thank you! It’s been fun working on all the different Iusta faces and poses (and cheesecake), sometimes on the mark, sometimes a little off the mark ๐
I DID like the Iusta pin-up; very cute and sexy in a young-Roman-matronish sort of way, even down to her little bit of extra curviness – perhaps a hint too much spira….
What was I doing??? Sneakin’
Hey, isn’t there supposed to be a giant, orc-eating spider in here somewhere… or was that another story?
Yep, I have also found the toilet and it is enclosed and it even has a roof!
Damon was just investigating the premises, looking for escape routes. Iusta looks so young and yet so mature. She sounds like my mother.
The middle panel in the bottom row looks as if she was posing for a portrait. Very nice.
Damon has that scared cat face. I wonder what fears are ailing his soul.
Aw, he’s just a kid. What could be bothering him?
I mean, aside from shipwreck, murder, enslavement, jail, pyroclastic weather with heavy ash accumulation, and Roman sanitary engineering?

Klio, you have no idea how important is a decent WC. I could tell you horror stories about “undecent” WC’s. And no, those weren’t in a gas station.

Poor innocent, put-upon Damon. So why does he remind me of Gollum?
Probably the thieving and the sneaking.

Like DAMON rescuing the kitten, that is. D’oh!
If it’s any comfort, Jason was one of the choices considered for Damon’s name, way back when ๐
He has the cat in his bag. He is planning to run away while in the big city.
