Don’t get me wrong. I know that. Classical Venus was a very voluptuous lady. It is just that it seems that her bikini is a little smaller for her own good.
Venus tells me the bikini is just a formality, and also is just painted on, and she’s considering making it even smaller just to make Felix even more nervous.
Yes, they need to talk, but really she can’t go to the queen with dirty legs. They’ll need washing. With a horse one starts at the top and works down… I wonder…
BTW, I just want to say “I knew it!!” I knew that Felix’s daughters given name would be Felicia. Felicia Antonia, may your luck be greater than your father’s.
Felix sleeps with his sword; something I don’t recall seeing before. Hmm. Concern over recent developments, or a post-eruption flareup of Post-legionary Traumatic Stress Disorder?
Question, tho. It really never occurred to me to ask “who was the patron god/dess of Rome”…but at least the Wiki entry seems to think that “…Rome itself was protected by a goddess whose name was to be kept ritually secret on pain of death (for a supposed case, see Quintus Valerius Soranus). The Capitoline Triad of Juno, Jupiter, and Minerva were also tutelaries of Rome.”
So…is Venus just the patroness of Felix’s Rome because of their past? Or is she the patron goddess in THIS Rome? Or am I overthinking this..?
Indeed. Caesar (Gaius Julius) tied his family to Venus, ancestress of the founder of Rome. Domitian favoured Minerva. The Isis cult was growing strongly, sometimes welcomed, sometimes reviled. Venus has strong associations with the city, but now the goddesses will be duking it out.
I don’t want to be woken by a grumpy goddess but I guess mortals don’t have a choice.
None at all. One time she poked him with her foot until he got out of bed.
Isis and Venus at work. Thanks for the weekend cliffhanger Klio.
I liked how Felix wasn’t intimidated and probably was going to tell Venus were she could go.
It seems that Venus has put on some weight. She must stop eating too many sweets.
As a goddess, Venus reflects the standard of beauty for the time. She does not “eat” but rather is the manifestation of what is “hot.”
I think she looks fantastic.

Good for what? That she’ll be seen as slutty? So first she’s too fat and then she’s not wearing enough clothes?
She’s the goddess of sex and fertility. Good luck at slut shaming her. She’ll make sure you have no love in your life for the next ten years.

She IS deliciously curvy tho her lack of a navel is slightly jarring if appropriate, given her nativity…
Venus ALWAYS looks fantastic!
No mortal with any sense would ever suggest otherwise. 😀

Maybe they can have private baths installed along with that luxury toilet.
Love the way you render hair.
Thanks! Sometimes the inspiration and the pen come together just right 🙂
It’s nice to find a goddess as persistent as my ex-wife (Wake up!)
The goddess has no patience with this “sleep” thing mortals waste their time on when there’s business to attend to!

More like post-imperator stress disorder. An affliction you get after surviving in the vicinity of one of Rome’s emperors and their entourage.

Juno was Rome’s patron goddess: Juno Regina and with Jupiter and Minerva she was called Juno Capitolina.
Domitian is a devout of Minerva and that is why he insisted that it was she who was talking to Felix.

Or maybe they’ll form a cabal.
Or maybe…
Or maybe they are in cahoots and are messing with both Felix and Iusta’s lives.
Goddesses do not form cabals… they have cabovaries.
It took me a while to get that…
Cahoots are a different matter entirely. Goddesses typically morph in and out of cahoots on a regular basis
