SPQR BLUES: The Movie! Anyway, loosely based on one of the movie posters for The Robe, a genuine sword-&-sandals Cinemascope Technicolor epic. Now that I’ve finally got this sketch out of my system, I’ll get back to work on this weekend’s comics. ETA: oops, how did I leave Spendusa & Menander off the credits? I’ll fix that in the morning.
This will be the final design for the first t-shirt, unless anyone spots any glitches or anatomical iffiness or has any other suggestions. Imagine it on a blue t-shirt (so the blue background would be the fabric of the shirt):
Next up, a final design for a Sweetums shirt
A long weekend is coming up, and since I won’t be going away, I’ll be chaining myself to the drawing board.
Sandra was kind enough to scan this truly ancient poster from a film series at school, from way back in my salad days. I honestly do not remember drawing it. But, boy, do I remember the movie. It’s the one we described as being as if the entire cast and crew had gotten blitzed at a Hollywood party the night before, agreed to do a movie, and arrived at the set the next morning hungover. Except, as I recall, for Jason Robards.
Some flashcard sketches from MICE 2012 in Cambridge, MA this past weekend. You might detect a theme.
Plus there at the end as an extra bonus are Colleen AF Venable and John Green getting photobombed by Deadpool at the after party. I am behind the camera, oblivious.
Friday update: A limited number of Venus and SPQR Blues tshirts have arrived! And they do look good. I’ll bring them over to the convention today.
NY Comic Con revs up today. I’m sharing table BB19 in Artists Alley and will try to be there as much as I can, but have to divide my time between that and the day-job booth too. Most of my time the past month and a half has been eaten up with convention prep and trying to get those tshirts made!
So, will there actually be shirts at the con, or for order later? Still don’t know yet! I hope so!
But there will be: Pillage A Library bookmarks, Sweetums bookmarks, Venus prints, original sketches, and, if I got the page order correct, a sweet little mini version of chapter I to introduce new folks to the story.
The story which WILL be continuing…
