Sketch of the day: Felix scribble

by klio on 6 September 2016 at 8:00 pm

This was just a warmup doodle, then I ended up in over my eyebrows on a freelance project that was larger than I thought it would be and it ate the rest of the day/weekend. Eh, it’s not perfect, but it made a good warmup for the fingers.

Sketch of the day: selfie

This is what my self portraits usually look like:

Well, that’s what they look like when I’m in a charitable mood.

For some reason I decided, as long as I’m on a watercolour kick, to try a fancier self portrait. After I scanned it…

I decided I was too tired to try hand-painting it and decided to try digital instead…

Does it actually look like me? I dunno. Marginally?

Sketch of the day: kind of sort of looks like Iusta

This scanned oddly (dark, blotchy), so I did a quickie touchup in Photoshop–I’m still not sure how it’ll show up on your browsers. Well, I’ll post it and find out!

Here are the stages of the drawing. I liked the pencils and considered just cleaning them up and leaving it at that, but wanted to play with watercolours.

Here’s today’s assortment of tools:

Deleter Neopiko 4, Kuretake Fudebiyori, water brushes, eraser, pencil.

Sketches of the Day: Have Mercy

Since I’m pretty excited about the imminent return of Z Nation for season 3 in about 10 days, I did a couple of characters from the show for my warm-up sketches today.

This one is Warren.

This one is 10K. You can see how he might appeal to me, what with the 10K Drawings countdown. His countdown is for Zombie kills. As one does.

After maybe a rough start in the first season (according to some reviewers), the show is just the right sort of sincere camp I adore–both funny and touching.

While we’re at it, here’s another sketch:

I’m scanning, shading, and lettering a new comic tonight. It probably won’t post for a few hours.

Tidying up

Since I can’t get out of the house this afternoon, I’ve been watching PLEBS (the Britcom set in ancient Rome) and working on the theory that having a clean house is a way to clear the mind and unclog inspiration.

Mostly I’m just watching PLEBS.
