Agreed. She’s a LOT of fun. And, yes; she’s recognizably herself from your last series of pages in the main story…
But she looks VERY different with her hair down. I had to look back and forth at her face in the various images to see the resemblance – it’s there, but the hairstyle REALLY makes her look different.
A different hairstyle and a lofty up-do really can change how one looks. I might have to get a short haircut soon and I dread the prospect of no longer looking like me!
May be a figurative as much as a literal thing; Domitia “with her hair up” is correctly dignified, reserved, and reticent as a proper Roman wife, with never a dangerous or disruptive thought.
Hair down? There’s some pretty scary thinking going on in there, thinking of plots and plans that proper Roman husbands might not quite approve of…
I’m going to say it’s either a huge magnifying glass or a remarkably smooth emerald for fixing eye problems. I was trying drawing with foreshortening 🙂
I’ve been doing some drawing this week for the first time in a while (it’s even Romans, but I can’t show it, since it’s for a freelance project), but it is really hard to scrape together time for creativity. I’m hoping (for many reasons, of course) that the nurse-duty will ease up over the next couple of weeks!

Um, what is she holding in her hand? Is that an artist trick?

The third picture almost looks like she’s doing”These are not the bots you’re looking for.”
Ack-ack-ack, We wants more Romans with sandals and soap-opera intrigue. We have waited long enough, yes we has. Will no Klio come to our rescue?
