Literally nothing will make me happier today than seeing panel 2.
Even though poor Mus’ is already suspecting something’s off, judging from his look…
can’t they just live together like that, Mus happy with his business and his big family 🙁
Mus married Iusta mostly to get his father out of his hair regarding his bachelor status. He knew that Iusta as a roman lady wouldn’t think twice about him having his boyfriend nearby, unlike a pious jewish lady who would probably denounce him.
Iusta likes Mus as a friend and perhaps a brother but not as a man and husband. She does love Felix.
Felix, loves iusta and loves Mus as a brother. He is the one who would probably fret over His and Iusta marital status.
Since Mus is now the sole surviving male heir of his entire files (his uncle and his cousins died in Pompeii) he is now free to do as he wants. He will probably divorce Iusta so she would be free to marry Felix if she wants.
Now here comes the big problem: Mus’ legal status. Is he still officially dead? Iusta was declared a widow in Misenum when the bureaucrat read the survivor’s and identified dead list. Did Domitian fixed that problem? I doubt so. He probably kept that under wraps so he could make use of it as he sees fit and since now he is thinking of using Alexander as a mean to hurt Felix anything can happen. Domitian can declare that Mus is an escaped slave that has stolen his dead master’s, Alexander, identity.
Mus is in great danger, more than Felix who for the time being is under Titus’ protection.
Discovered this webcomic this morning, spent the whole day reading it from start to finish. How lovely. I appreciate the dedication to authenticity with the clothing and design. I particularly enjoy the appearances of the imperial siblings and the divine epiphanies. And who doesn’t like Iusta?
I will definitely be following along, and I wish I’d known about this sooner.
Now that you’re caught up, I’ll have to make sure there are new comics to read…. though (except for a fretting servant or two) at least it’s a peaceful place to pause….

It’s getting cold in the evenings, everyone has to cuddle.
Maybe I should have slapped “and they lived happily ever after” at the bottom of panel 2 😀 …
I’ll just imagine that line underneath panel 2 from now on, whenever something bad happens in the following updates 😉
So what were the Roman rules about poligamy, anyway?
Not flexible…

Or … not. 😉
Irenaeus doesn’t even get a mattress?
Damon may not known his Homer very well, but even he thinks Irenaeus should get a mattress.
There’s probably at least some folded blankets between him and the floor, if they gave all the mattresses to the guests.
If I remember right, all Odysseus’ dog got was a dungpile.
And fleas 🙁 That story really upset me when I was a little’un.

Thank you so very much!
