Oh my goodness just KISS already!
Ahem.
Anywhoo, boo! How could he send Felix to his awful little brother who pretty much wants him dead! Though judging by the dialogue he might be hoping for the opposite outcome?
Both imperial brothers have a problem with respecting personal space. Titus maybe because it puts people off-kilter and therefore gives him useful character information, and anyway he couldn’t care less what makes other people uncomfortable, he’s in charge. Plus maybe he’s having vision problems these days.
Domitian…probably just because he like to poke people and see what happens and thinks everything belongs to him anyway.
Or other reasons. I’m going to officially say that what I say in the comments doesn’t always necessarily qualify as word-of-creator canon 😀 (Beware! It’s a TVTropes link! That site could eat your whole day….)
This is Titus being devious. He knows Domitian wants Felix dead. He also knows that Felix is armed and took a gamble that he wasn’t in peril.
Does Titus wants Domitian dead? Unlikely.
Does Titus wants Felix dead? Also unlikely. There are easier ways to kill Felix. Titus is not a sadist like his brother.
I think Titus wants somebody in Domitian’s court dead. That is a high risk mission. There must be a carrot in all of this.
My guess is that this may also be Titus’ way of putting the mantle of his protection over Felix. As his “official” dirty-work-guy in Domitian’s circle an obvious attempt on Felix’s life is a public strike on Titus. Titus knows that Domitian doesn’t work that way, so this might well be a way – making Felix more-or-less a “client” of his – of forcing Domitian to back off.
Yes, maybe. By now Titus knows how evil person his brother is. Not that there’s anything wrong with being evil … so long as it doesn’t interfere with the Emperor’s fun and games.
The two older Flavii had reputations as pretty straight-arrow guys – that was a big part of their appeal to their contemporaries after the kinks the Julio-Claudians got up to towards the end. But they also had to protect their gens, so as evil a boy as Domitian was (and there’s some question about how evil he really was – his enemies wrote this histories, so he comes off as a brutal tyrant, but there’s a considerable body of scholarship that paints him as less awful, at least outside of his relationship to the senatorial class…) he was family.

Also, because I’m a dope, HAPPY AMERICAN THANKSGIVING! if you are American and HAPPY AWESOME THURSDAY! If you are not!
Oh yes–and that too, everyone!
Ew, boy-lips-touching cooties! 😀

Also, Felix is going to meet Alexander!
unless Alexander has left for Egypt by then.

I completely missed your link. Thank you.
I cannot find anything about the stone Titus mentions. Does anyone know what it is?
