Chapter V: XX
The software that powers the site has a built-in function for selling the original art of each comic. I was looking at that the other day and wondering… Informal poll: is original art something anyone might be interested in–for any of the comic, all the way back to the start? It would just be line art, no fancy shading π
Speaking of fancy shading, I updated the previous comic.
Selling the original art? There might just be a market for that. What the heck, give it a stab… upward from below the ribs, and don’t forget to twist the knife. Just ask yourself: “What would Felix do?”
I assume Felix would go for upward from below the ribs, in his previous work for Titus. He was an artist at it, of course.
Yes Felix. It is bot a reminder and an invitation. Titus ordered that tunic sent and you know that he knows that you are alive.
The question is now what?
I say keep the tunic and wait.
BTW, kudos for taking Irenaeus into your confidence. He will do everything to save the family.
Keep it…but don’t wear it unless Titus tells you to, in person.
But can Felix manage to be cautious? Where’s a goddess to advise you when you need one?
She’s too busy eating popcorn and watching the drama unfolds. Now to add to the mix all she has to do is get Iusta pregnan, just when the Petronius family comes down to claim her.
The goddess will come at her convenience, not Felix’s need, though in times past those coincided.
On LJ there is a casting selection for the upcoming SPQR Blues.
So far the contenders are:
Clive Owen for Felix,
Jennifer Lawrence for Iusta,
Kristen Steward for Seianti,
Tom Hiddleston for either Vibius or Calatoria, Klio has not decided yet.
Chris Hemsworth was rejected as Felix for being too blond.
Klio would have loved to cast Tony Curtis as Felix, but her time machine is broken so …
Kristen Stewart wouldn’t make my own dream cast for the blockbuster Ancient Roman miniseries, but don’t let my aversions get in the way of anyone else’s casting choices π
(There, that sounds more sane than my first version of this comment π )
Tom Hiddleston as Calatoria and you know it’d get all sorts of reviewer attention.
I’ll confess that the only movie I’ve ever seen with Kristen Steward was Zathura and she did an excellent performance as a block of ice when her character was frozen.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Uncle Speudon.
You know, he looks the part. He only needs to add more meat to his frame.
Matt Jones could age right into the role of Vibius.
He has an interesting voice–I’m all about voices. And he’s a lot more animated than a block of ice.
And now I’m absolutely imagining Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston starring together as the Calatorius family. You know they’d act the living daylights out of it.
Jennifer Lawrence for Iusta, perfect! I’m not 100% sold on the other suggestions, tho. Must mull this over.
Jennifer Lawrence is such an outstanding actress, I’ll overlook her height π
Time machine casting choice: Gary Raymond. 6-foot-3, I think. Suave voice. I’m l’il bit obsessed with this actor. Don’t judge him only by his performance acting against a hydra in Jason and the Argonauts π
I would think there would be a market for individual pages. Do you have to set a price, or are they auctioned? Beware of hidden costs (from the software) as well as shipping and handling. Would the income justify the extra workload?
Some day, after your demise unfortunately, these renderings will be worth a lot, but that’s not your worry.
Well, now I’m worried π I’d better designate some heirs, pronto.
Sage counsel. I’ll have to figure out shipping and handling in advance, costs for shipping outside North America, etc. (including packaging that would protect a piece of Bristol board). And make sure it’s easy enough to do that I can get any requests sent out quickly instead of dawdling, as I do.
The built-in software sets a fixed price. I’ll test it and see whether it automatically marks everything as for sale or can be adjusted easily for individual comics. Some of the comics don’t exist in any coherent, tangible form, alas.
And what about the picture of the bear in a toga? I love that one, is it available as a poster?
Actually, it is π As a print at the usual sort of standard sizes and a bookmark with a matching tassel. I usually try to have a few when I’m at a convention. They look like this.
Luckily, I have a source that can print them a few at a time at really nice quality on heavy stock. I’ll find out exactly what size print paper is available and whether a larger poster size can be made.
Feel better soon! <3
Thanks π π
