Chapter IV: CCLXII on June 22, 2015 Chapter: chapter IVCharacters: Antonia, Felix, JustaLocation: Misenum, Rome For those of you keeping count, this was drawn after this Friday’s comic and yesterday’s Menander comic, so drawing #5000 is still ahead….
“We should leave soon” Felix cuts to the chase doesn’t he? Particularly when there’s a chase in the offing.
There are some old friends Felix just doesn’t want to have a reunion with.
They go home to Egypt. Nice. But first the Roman adventure.
Of course they’re family now. It’s not like either of them has much family left. Keep what ya got!
Hmm. Journey to Rome, then Alexandria? Maybe the story isn’t going to end as soon as we thought.
Poor Felix. He looks like he’s living Catullus’ poem:
“…aduenio has miseras, frater, ad inferias, ut te postremo donarem munere mortis et mutam nequiquam alloquerer cinerem.”
Very fitting…
That is why I feel he deserves a break. To successfully resolve his problem with the Flavians and then to go home to Alexandria and raise his daughter and perhaps get a new family as well.
He is overdue for a happy ending–one that sticks, this time.
The gods have an unfathomable sense of humour, though.
I’ve been wondering if Venus will clue Felix in on the joke. Or just smack him with the punch line.
I think smack is more likely.
Goddesses can be careless even with their most beloved playthings.
