Sketch of the day: Veritas et Iustitia et Mos Romanus

At the comic shop last Friday, I worked on commissions and—probably because I was in a comic shop surrounded by comics and paintings of superheroes—several of the sketch cards took a turn toward the superheroic. A couple of them just flat out wanted to be other characters, so I let them. Then, because I’d ended up turning a Felix sketch into Wonder Woman… twice… I let him have a try at being Superman. I wasn’t satisfied with how the colours turned out, so I played with it in Photoshop.
In high school, I used to enjoy doing stippling effects by hand. Nowadays, I am not so patient.
I’m imagining Felix in drag… as Wonder Woman. Well, he’d look good in anything, probably. I just have to tell you how very, very glad I am that you’re back drawing again, and proceeding with the SPQR Blues storyline again. And I would follow anything you care to draw, illustrate, or otherwise story-fy (is that a word? I think I just made up a word) after you’re done with SPQR Blues. Because you are an awesomely talented artist, and I’m glad you’re in the world.
Thank you SO VERY MUCH. Yesterday evening I was contemplating whether there’s another story I would do as a webcomic either after Chapter V or at the same time, and your words couldn’t have come at a better time to encourage me to try to expand my comics storyfying 🙂
I started imagining Felix in drag as Wonder Woman, and the little Felix voice I keep in my head asked me not to–what a fuddy duddy.
